The Supper

This came to me in a dream. It was all in black and white. I believe I was seeing the future, except it was in the past. Time will tell.

Chapter 1: The Entry

The doorbell rings. "Honey! There are here early!" I gruffly bellow. I straighten my tie and smooth my wide lapels. My flat top is Brill-creamed with precision. My wing tips are polished to perfection. As always I am looking and feeling The Man of the House.

"Yes dear, that's perfectly fine, all will be well, supper is nearly served." My wife's melodious voice calms me temporarily. A brief smile graces my face as I realize I'm lost in this world without that woman. Then the doorbell screeches at me again. I take a breath and stroll towards the door pensively. I open it and before me is young MooCow, teeshirt, jeans, baseball cap and sneakers. "Yo, slaps some eats on us Grend-man. I biked 3,142 miles today and my tapeworms are threatening to vacate my sorry starved ass. Whoa, there's an image you prolly didn't want pre-chow eh? Oh, this is The Hillster."

At the side of young MooCow is a young woman in full formal bridal gown trailing down my front walk towards the driveway, veil down, looking quite radiant and pleased with herself. I quickly recover from a brief moment of confusion. "Please do come in... Mrs. Hillster and make yourself comfortable." The Hillster looks at me, wrinkles her nose cutely and smiles back, "Oh, It's Ms. for now Mister G." She looks at MooCow expectantly, whose face lights up with that old familiar.. "Ohhhh.. yeaaaah..." look. MooCow quickly braces himself between the screen door and outside door holding both open simultaneously while The Hillster walks deeper into our home until her trail has cleared both doors. I begin to worry, "Don't let the cat ou..." *SLAM* "Dude, mellow, I'm on it." Moo has secured the outside door before I can birth my last consonant.
