....Jesster and Grend31 won't be in CoH until Jesster's puter get's fixed. I slammed in the new power supply last night, connected it up, turned it on, and WHALLLAAAH! Shit whirred for a bit.. time passed ever so slowly.... and.... the mild odor of circuits burning slowly wafted from interior of the box. Joy. Suffice it to say that I've brought the box into work to have M1 look at it if his schedule permits. It's out of my league now. I'm guessing at bare minimum it's going to need a new motherboard. But I'm going to defer to M1's analysis and recommendations.

Well apparently there were three casualties thus far in the incident. Power supply, mainboard and primary hard drive. I'm picking up a new hard drive today. After M1 has finally gone all Frankenstein on it's ass and "it's alive" I have a feeling that I'll probably at least need time tonight and tomorrow to install the massive patchwork quilt for the OS. And then there's the long and painful process of getting the apps at least bare minimum. FW, antiviral, bot cleaner, Firefox and CoH patch - this is going to take some time. Poor Jesster lost all of her music, again. Oy. These frelling puters are starting to make me reconsider their usefulness as entertainment devices.
Don't hold your breath as we'll probably be beta testing SP2 and nvidia. And I'm not going in until I get Jesster up and running.
Yeah, fortunately the video card and the memory were still salvagable. And our buddy M1 is one of those scary scary smart people with hardware, well and with software as well. But yeah.. she's basically getting a new puter.. new mainboard, new power supply and new drive.
