Summer Vacation Planning

This last year's remodeling has left our budget a bit strapped for extravagances for this coming year. So I have come up with the following fantastic Triple Treat for our summer vacationing. I'm sure this trifecta of bliss will be met with a warm reception by the Chair of our Vacation Planning committee:

Late June / Early July vacation: Picnicing in the Forest Grilling Out Late Spring Vacation

supplies in hand: picnic blanket, forest, grill
supplies needed: steaks, burgers and brats

Welcome to Picnic Forest! It's a cozy place with a familiar feel to it. You may wish to picnic on our hardwood deck or take your picnic blanket deeper into the forest. Enjoy our well-tended gardens. Feel free to help yourselves to our mostly organically grown vegetables. Our menu includes stuff cooked on a grill, hopefully not too overdone or charred into oblivion.

Late July / Early August vacation: Sitting on the Beach Drinking Booze Summer Vacation

supplies in hand: swimsuits, sunblock, beach blanket (see picnic blanket above)
supplies needed: Massive plastic tarp (enough to cover the deck), Bags of Sand (enough to cover the deck), large plastic kiddie pool, appletini components

Welcome to Forest Beach! You find the waters here fresh and cool! (we refill the pool every morning just you and pick the leaves and twigs out every afternoon. You'll find your waiter/bartender/fellow vacationer very willing to serve you in, well, let's just say any way he can. He's a frisky one and we find it's best to just not keep track of him, his whereabouts or his activities in general.

Late August / Early September vacation: Bed and Breakfast Late Summer Vacation

supplies in hand: bed and some of components necessary for the breakfasts
supplies needed: a few items for breakfast menu

What could be more comfortable and homey feeling.. than waking up in your own bed? Nothing could possibly compare, that's what we think at least. Remember that naughty bartender from your Forest Beach excursion? Well, we've managed to rope him into serving you breakfasts in bed for your stay here at our cosy Bed and Breakfast, which we would like to note, has recently been remodeled for your comfort. And oh yes, he's as frisky as ever and quite willing to whip up anything you need to sate your appetites.

This is lovely sweetie! But you forget one thing: BUGS. We need lots and lots and lots of Off.

Does this mean you want to have a deck party this year?

Sorry Jav, it looks like the one and only ticket just sold.

This has absolutely nothing at all to do with a deck party dear.

Off? OFF???? Over my dead blogger body!

When you get closer to summer I'll tell ya about Skeeter Dope.

Being ex-backpackers, we have a relatively wide experience with many skeeter repellants. My favorite stuff right now is the plastic bottles of skeeter killer you hook up to your hose. Then you soak your entire property (and slightly over into your neighbor's property). Skeeter Genocide. Makes me giddy just thinking about it.
